Inspired By The Zoo

Today my husband and I took our son to the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI. He’s 13 months old (exactly), and it was his first trip to the zoo.

Yes, he basically pointed at the animals excitedly whenever he had a good view of them. My son wasn’t the only one who was mesmerized at the zoo today. On our way out, we made a quick stop to see the zebras. Now, this wasn’t my first encounter with a zebra – but it never occurred to me until today how beautiful and visually miraculous this creature is.

In an effort not to bore you to tears, I’m not going to go on gushing about the evolutionary wonder of a zebra’s hide, but I will say that my visit to the zoo today has made me think differently about animal prints  – especially those lovely black and white striped ones. They are truly “from nature,” but can often look a little tired and contrived (in my opinion) in a room. Here are some interiors where the zebra stripes look as miraculous as they do in real life – at the zoo!

And, last but not least, the zebra item you’ve all been waiting for – something you never knew you needed…until now…
